Michelle has been immersed in the world of horses for 22 years and has been working with horses and their humans for 17 of those years. The 'guinea pig' at her barn growing up, Michelle would work with the troublesome horses developing a relationship of partnership and understanding. She later developed a format to teach this art of communication and partnership to horses and their owners. Michelle has facilitated workshops in Equine Reiki, Animal Communication, Seeing I to I, as well as her newest addition "The Path of Freedom through the way of the horse" and "The Horse as a Spiritual Path".

I do not believe in asserting my will or dominance over a horse. I do believe in confident leadership from the inside out. I believe in receiving an invitation to dance together. Receiving the invitation involves an ability to be patient with the process, unattached to the outcome. It involves letting go of a need to control the situation. It involves letting go of the need to be some kind of person that you think you’re supposed to be. It involves letting of what you think you should be doing. It involves trusting in the process.
My invitation to you...
1:1 Phone Sessions for horse & person
You will receive a form to fill out prior to our session asking questions about you and your horse. Based on your questionnaire I will ask you to do an exercise with your horse before our session, email me your experience, and then we will then conduct a 60 minute phone session to talk about what presented itself.
These sessions are excellent for helping you and your horse see I to I. I also make customized flower essences for both horses and humans to help assist your journey. $125 includes initial consult, exercises, 60 minute phone consult, and optional flower essence. Follow-up sessions are $75.
1:1 sessions in person for horse & person
I like to first talk a little bit on the phone about you and your horse to see if we are a good match for this work and if I feel I am the appropriate person to hold space for you and your horse. I will then meet with you and your horse and we will engage the areas of inquiry together.
$100 includes initial consult & 60 minute session. Addl. $20 for horses over 15 mile radius.
Follow-up sessions are $65.
1:1 Horse Spirit Wisdom Journeys with you, me, & my medicine mare Shanti
I invite you to dance with the horse. The spirit of the horse invites you to be present, centered, confident, clear. Alignment with yourself leads to harmony not only with your horse, but also with your life. Leading from your heart, trusting in your guidance, relationships based in partnership rather than control, love and respect versus codependence-these are some of the many tenets of the horse's wisdom way. These journeys involve you coming and meeting my medicine mare for a 1:1 session of reflection. You will not be getting on the horse, all sessions are held on the ground.
$125 includes 90 minute session
Follow up sessions are $85.
Group Horse Spirit Wisdom Demonstrations
I offer group demonstrations with horses and their owners where we can engage these teachings together. This is for engaging the awareness of the subtle communication that is present with our horses. This is not a horse training session, this is a journey together.

Michelle's journey with horses...
My mother grew up loving horses & riding Lippitt morgans with her best friend and thus loved horses. She exposed me to horses early on and I was in love from the age 7 on. My days were spent at the barn during childhood into my teens and it took me awhile to catch up with my peers as I preferred my time with the horses over anything else. My best friend and I would sleep in the tackroom of the barn on the weekends and would go to show together and were a part of 4H club. The story continues and I have met many horses with many teachings. I began schooling 'troubled' horses at the age of 14 and became the barn's guinea pig for the misunderstood 4 leggeds. Later in life I became a teacher with children of the same background; misunderstood. Horses have been my friends, my teachers, my allies, my strength. It is with the horses that I have experienced some of my foundational life lessons and it is with horses that my deepest emotions are stirred. My first true love was a horse named Sailor Boy. He carried me through my awkward pre-teens into my teenage years only to leave my life suddenly and teach my heart about loss and standing on one’s own two feet. He came to me in a dream the night after he crossed over standing on a pedestal, he told me I must let him go, and stand on my own two feet instead of his four.

I have met many horses in the 25 years I have been immersed in them, all with a unique story to share. They have taught me about trust, partnership, patience, gentleness, and presence. The most powerful medicine that was ever shared with me was by a black stallion who was a well of depth and also frustration at his own imprisonment. He was aggressive and angry and we learned to work together after some time and a lot of patience and learning. He taught me about being a leader of your own life. He taught me that until I was truly centered in my own self, it was only then that he, or any other, would really respect my leadership. I stood in his stall one fall day in Arizona to hear “How do you expect me to be lead by you when you cannot lead yourself”. He taught me about presence. He taught me that he didn’t need me and that I needed him more than he would ever need me. He taught me that when one is in alignment with their own true nature, they have everything they need.
I learned to communicate with horses at an early age out of love and respect for them. I have always had a horse in my life whether it was one that I owned, schooled, or leased. I never go long without them as they are foundational to my being and my joy. In Massachusetts I learned more about Equine Reiki and began facilitating workshops in equine reiki and animal communication. I soon learned from my own experience that the horses did not need the healing as much as the owners did. It was the horses who were divinely connected, and the humans who forgot their connection. Horses provide that bridge. I then began facilitating sessions for horse and owner to understand each other which I called Seeing I to I. I held a space for the bridge to occur, and magic would unfold. I then began pursuing workshops in equine assisted therapy and learning how to apply my coaching skills to my work with horses. This lead to the birthing of The Wisdom Way of the Horse which I am sharing with you now. There are many horses who have taught me lessons just by being who they are, whose stories you will find below. The newest horse in my life is a mare named Shanti who flew in on the west wind when I was not looking and landed in my lap. Shanti is one of the smartest mares I have ever met and she is keeping me on my toes and keeping me present. She truly embodies the work I am so passionate about as she came into my life on the wings of grace, reminded me about trusting in the Divine process that is ever unfolding. Thanks for reading and I am excited to share this space with you.
There are a myriad of animals that you can observe in nature that are in alignment with their instinctual, inherent nature. However, not many of them let you partner up with them in the way in which horses do. Horses have been worked alongside humans for 100s of years. They have carried us through war, carried our mail, driven our carts, performed in our circuses, and are incredible companions on our life journey. A horse, in their truest form is the embodiment of freedom, power, grace, life force. Horses provide us an opportunity just by being in the presence of their nature, to embody and awaken the instinctual nature within us.
So, what does a horse session involve?
A horse session is an opportunity to inquire and explore your inherent nature with the horse as your reflection and in many cases, your guide. There is no set format for our sessions other than holding a safe space for self inquiry and discovery. Horses will mirror what is going on with a client and will often reflect back where you are at in your process. I make a point to sit with you before we even approach the horse session to talk a bit about the process and to get an understanding about where are at and how I can best support you and how I can best support the space. Some sessions are held in the pen with the horse, others on the outside. All sessions are held on the ground and you will not be getting on the horse.
Your 4 legged guide. My medicine mare, Shanti
Shanti came into my life synchronistically when I was not exactly looking for a new horse. When we first met we went into the roundpen and joined up immediately. I was deeply touched by her presence and desire to connect. When we rode we linked up as one being. I knew then she was my next horse. It took me awhile for my mind to catch up with what my Spirit knew, but that was part of the gift of our journey together; trust.
Shanti has never had a bit in her mouth or shoes on her feet. She is one of the smartest little mares I have ever met and also quite assertive. She has taught me to be confident in my leadership as that is what she has required of me. This is a great gift! Shanti is very sensitive and responsive. She is also very inquisitive and expressive. She has no problem pointing out weak boundaries or asking you to scratch her bum. If you don't assert your boundaries she will ask you to scratch her bum probably throughout the session! I call her my medicine mare, for ever since she has come into my life, she has carried medicine with her. She is a gift to all who meet her.

The Wisdom Way of the Horse
Self discovery, inquiry, and awareness in the
presence of the horse's inherent wisdom way.
"When a woman is in her center, she is like a wild mare taking flight freely through the open plain, her mane whipping in the wind. The strength of her powerfully sculptured legs merges with the earth, majestically creating its own drumbeat in tribute to Source. She is pure and primal expression of creative power."
Henry Houston, (Lakota Sioux)
